Easter Sunday

Easter morning started out really early for us.  Apparently our little dude thought we were going to attend a sunrise service so he was up at 5:45 am.  Yep, folks, you read that correctly.  (Currently, we are in the process of getting rid of his morning nap and his vampire teeth are coming in so he is a hot mess.)  On our way to church he fell asleep and this is what you get...

Sorry, no pics of everyone in there easter outfits.  After church we went home to change clothes then to mamaw and papaw's for lunch.  After lunch an easter egg hunt, a walk and lots of playing.

They were pretty excited about there treasures...Look at Rigley's face

We left there and drove around for a little bit so the littles could get a quick nap in.

Mamaw and papaw Doug had dinner made for us so we got to hang out with some more family.  These guys love Rosie and Roxy.  In fact, Tucker played with them so much his eyes started to swell up some.  This is the first time this has ever happened so we are not sure if it was really the dogs or maybe the shampoo that they dogs got a bath in.  Tuck's skin is so sensitive.  After washing his hands and face we sent him outside and his eyes seemed to settle down a bit.

Finally...our day was done.  Home to take showers and get ready for another school week.

The pics below are from Easter 2009.  Rigley had on the exact same outfit and jacket did that Tucker wore then.  It's amazing to me how much they look alike.  Tuck was about 13 months and had much longer (and out of control) hair.

More Cousin Fun

Sarah's kids are also on spring break this week.  I guess Sarah was feeling adventurous so she had all the nieces/nephews to her house for the day.  The oldest two went of ours and Jac's boys were there along with Sarah's three.  They had fun and it's so funny to hear there stories.  I'm so glad they all get along so well.

The kids were all playing Headbanz...

I had the littles with me and this little dude kept crawling/climbing up on the table.  Think he is proud of himself.

I do have a funny story to share that Sarah sent to us.  The kids were playing PlayDoh and this conversation transpired:
Ella: We can play PlayDoh, but don't mix the colors.
Paul: Why can't we mix the colors?
Chaney: Because it's definitely not cool.
Paul: I know, it is very cool outside today.

Cousin Fun

Tuesday we went up to aunt Jac's to play with the kids.  Jaclyn's kids and our kids are just stair steps.  Chaney started school this past year and this coming school year Paul and Tucker will be kindergarteners.  It's hard to coordinate time together right now so we really try to make it work over breaks.  The kids always have so much fun together.  The boys really out number the girls which makes Tucker really happy.  Paislee always seems to get hurt more than usual when we are there.  Some of that is because Pete likes to protect his territory.

Before we left this morning Chaney asked me if she could get her hair cut.  Normally when the rest of us head to Jac's for beauty day Chaney is at school and misses it all.  Once we got there she ran to Jac and asked and aunt Jac obliged.

The before shot...

and after.... She was so happy!

Once we were in the car to come home, it took this boy about 3.5 seconds to fall asleep.

Funny story...On the way to Jac's we pass Reynold's Farm Equipment.  As many of you know, they have a huge Christmas light show they do.  For Easter they have a HUGE cross set up.  It's very cool.  When we saw it we started talking about Jesus dying on the cross and Good Friday and the whole story.  Chaney said, "I know, Jesus died on Friday they on Sunday he raised from the tuna."  Trying not to laugh, I said, "Raised from what?"  She finally realized what she had said, "Oh yeah, Tuna is the fish. He raised from the tomb."

Marker Fun

Nothing beats a winter snow storm on spring break, right?  WRONG! Anything beats snow on spring break.  This wasn't like a dusting, it was like eight inches worth.  We spent Monday inside watching it snow most of the day and catching up on laundry.

This little boy kept getting his little hands in the marker bucket.  He seriously had this marker all over his clothes, neck, hands and arms.  Since tonight was a bath night I decided to have some fun at Rigley's expense.

Do I have something on my face?

Mr. Personality

Tucker is 5

Happy 5th Birthday Tucker!!

Oh, Tuck, where do we begin.  It's another year and you are now five, a whole hand.  You are so excited that you have finally reached this milestone because it means kindergarten is just around the corner.  This year it seems like you have grown ten inches.  You are so incredibly tall.  You continue to amaze us with your break dancing and gymnastic moves.  Each day you show off your moves and show how you can control your balance so well.  We'll see if this balance will help you on your skateboard and learning to ride your bike with no training wheels this summer.

In the last year you have learned so much.  While working with Chaney on her school items I have secretly noticed you paying attention and soaking it all in like a sponge.  You memorized John 3:16 without us even working with you.  You can count to 100 in a minute, count by 5's and 10's to 100 in no time.  These are things we have not even worked on.  You are now writing your name by yourself.  You are still not much for sitting and practicing your letters.  You would rather do a game or puzzle to work on your letters.

You continue to love and love to beat up on your sisters.  When daddy comes home you beg for a wrestling session about every night.  You are so physical and just love being rough.  Deep down inside you are still so tender hearted.  Lately, we have found out that you are quite the ladies man at church.  You are so sweet to all the girls in your class that they all have a crush on you now.  Secretly, though, I think there is just one girl that you really care about.  When we have craft time here at home and you make something you immediately want to give it away to this little girl.  (We won't say her name out loud, we don't want to break hearts;-))

Tucker, we love you so incredibly much.  Each day is a new adventure with you.  It feels like each day you try and do something to bend and stretch our rules.  I know that this is your way of learning but somedays you wear me out. The winter months seem to be the hardest for us.  You need physical activity and not being outside takes a toll on our relationship.  But we manage to work through...some days are better than others.  That is what makes this journey fun.  I'm so thankful that you are quick to forgive us when we get mad at you.  You are such a fun boy and so much fun to be around.  It truly is a privilege to be your mom, Tuck.  I love you so much.  We are so proud of the boy you are becoming.  We can not wait to see what this next year has in store for you.  We love you bunches!!

Tuck's Birthday

This morning we stuck to our ritual of "breakfast birthdays."  The birthday kid can pick whatever...seriously whatever they want for breakfast.  Tucker picked brownies with cream cheese icing and we were all very happy with that pick.  This is one of our favorites.  Once everyone was up we lit the candles and sang to him.

After breakfast it was some Lego time.  He got this as a present and daddy helped him put it together.

In the afternoon we took him out for "date night."  Josh and I have started a tradition of taking the kids out on a date to spend some one-on-one time with mom and dad.  He chose to eat dinner at McAlister's then we went to Toys R Us to pick out his toy(s).

There were so many decisions.  This store was almost more than he could handle.

We told him he had to make a choice between two toys and it was almost too much for him.  Jokingly we told him to pray about it and this is what he did....

He finally settled on some Hulk Smashers and a Spiderman skateboard.

Verse #6

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."
Mark 1:17 NIV

5 til 5

5 days until 5 years old...

This boy is so excited for his fifth birthday.  He has been asking, "How many sleeps until my birthday?" since February.  The countdown is now to one hand.  (You have to speak in terms they understand.)  Each day his birthday wishes change.  One day its a  BB gun, then a sling shot then a skateboard.  Who knows what it will be the day of....

Now for him to decide what he wants to eat the morning of his birthday....

Big Brother

While I was cleaning up from dinner tonight Tucker was asking me how to spell some words.  To be completely honest, I really wasn't paying attention until I saw the board.  Big Brother strikes again...

Apparently, his mood changed and he decided to rub Paislee's feet with lotion.  Sometimes he can be so sweet.
