Tucker is 5

Happy 5th Birthday Tucker!!

Oh, Tuck, where do we begin.  It's another year and you are now five, a whole hand.  You are so excited that you have finally reached this milestone because it means kindergarten is just around the corner.  This year it seems like you have grown ten inches.  You are so incredibly tall.  You continue to amaze us with your break dancing and gymnastic moves.  Each day you show off your moves and show how you can control your balance so well.  We'll see if this balance will help you on your skateboard and learning to ride your bike with no training wheels this summer.

In the last year you have learned so much.  While working with Chaney on her school items I have secretly noticed you paying attention and soaking it all in like a sponge.  You memorized John 3:16 without us even working with you.  You can count to 100 in a minute, count by 5's and 10's to 100 in no time.  These are things we have not even worked on.  You are now writing your name by yourself.  You are still not much for sitting and practicing your letters.  You would rather do a game or puzzle to work on your letters.

You continue to love and love to beat up on your sisters.  When daddy comes home you beg for a wrestling session about every night.  You are so physical and just love being rough.  Deep down inside you are still so tender hearted.  Lately, we have found out that you are quite the ladies man at church.  You are so sweet to all the girls in your class that they all have a crush on you now.  Secretly, though, I think there is just one girl that you really care about.  When we have craft time here at home and you make something you immediately want to give it away to this little girl.  (We won't say her name out loud, we don't want to break hearts;-))

Tucker, we love you so incredibly much.  Each day is a new adventure with you.  It feels like each day you try and do something to bend and stretch our rules.  I know that this is your way of learning but somedays you wear me out. The winter months seem to be the hardest for us.  You need physical activity and not being outside takes a toll on our relationship.  But we manage to work through...some days are better than others.  That is what makes this journey fun.  I'm so thankful that you are quick to forgive us when we get mad at you.  You are such a fun boy and so much fun to be around.  It truly is a privilege to be your mom, Tuck.  I love you so much.  We are so proud of the boy you are becoming.  We can not wait to see what this next year has in store for you.  We love you bunches!!

I can hardly believe he's 5 already. I remember going to visit you guys at the hospital and holding that sweet baby boy. He was on my mind for days after, and I thought he was the most beautiful baby boy I had ever seen (of course, I have now been blessed with an equally beautiful baby boy of my own). And though Tuck may not be a baby any longer, I love him just the same... No, I love him more. He is rough and tumble, but he is also so sweet to Charlotte. And he never wants his sisters to be left out of getting a treat. And he still doesn't want to miss out on a tea party with the girls. These years are so precious! I cherish every chance we get to spend with all of you. Only God knows what the future holds, but if Tucker and Charlotte's paths are entwined, I would be one happy momma (and there are no two parents I would rather have raising a future son-in-law)!

Happy 5th Birthday, Tucker! We love you bunches!
